Famed for its abundant power, agility, and majestic presence. Legendary for establishing a level of ultimate sport performance, and for retaining the number one position for the past two decades in the class it created. ‘Hayabusa’ literally means ‘Peregrine Falcon’ in Japanese. It was first launched in 1999 and instantly took the title of ‘the world’s fastest production motorcycle’.
Suzuki launched the latest version of the Hayabusa (‘generation 3’) in May 2021, which they did this in a subdued and totally under-stated manner. No fuss, no fanfares, just quiet Japanese efficiency.
The Hayabusa is an overlooked and highly capable machine. In a landscape full of 200bhp superbikes, it somehow manages to fly under the radar. In this narrative we review the most recent iteration of this bike. In order to do this, we thrash the knackers off it, we subject it some general abuse and thoroughly put it through its paces. Sometimes doing what we do is such a tough life … but, hey, somebody’s got to do it (LOL).
