The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) is an annual charity event that we look forward to every year. We’ve been attending the DGR in various locations since 2016 and its invariably a quite wonderful experience. It’s always a fabulous opportunity to meet our fellow riders, hear some stories, make some new friends and generally have a great time.
As some of you probably know, the DGR is a charity event in support of men’s mental health and prostrate cancer research. To date, its managed to raise over US$60m and over 500,000 riders have participated in 121 countries around the world.
- BACKGROUND INFORMATION :
2026 actually marks the 15th anniversary of this remarkable event and so we decided to participate in the Toronto ride. In this feature, we will provide you with our review of that particular event.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Toronto is the 4th largest urban area in North America. Within its borders, it is home to 3.35 million people, while the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) metro population exceeds 7.1 million residents.
While Toronto is undeniably a fast-growing and vibrant city, it can often feel like a permenant construction site. The road system is certainly compromised and traffic congestion is a constant source of frustration. To say that the travel infrastructure is a total mess would be an understatement. Seemingly, there are road works everywhere and we won’t even bother to mention the endless potholes. It’s suffice to say that Toronto will be a delightful city when it finally gets finished.
