If you live in or around the Toronto and Hamilton areas you’ve probably seen a familiar silhouette flying relatively slow and low through the summer skies. What’s more likely, though, is that you’ve heard the distinctive roar of four 27-litre Merlin V12 engines.
In either case, you’d have caught notice of the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum’s Lancaster Bomber. You really should count yourself lucky as that is one of only two surviving examples anywhere in the world that are still airworthy and flown regularly. That this plane still flies at all is remarkable.
