EDITORS INTRODUCTION
Hello and welcome to this rather special edition of Moto-Kulture.
In this photo publication, the subject is the BMW R1300 GS.
The ‘GS’ has been around since 1980 and its a formula that has continued to capture the imagination of riders ever since. In fact, BMW can actually be credited with inventing the whole adventure-touring motorcycle genre.
The name ‘GS’ stands for Gelände/Straße (German for Off-road/Road). BMW designed it to handle long-distance highway cruising with comfortable ergonomics, while still having enough ground clearance, suspension travel, and low-end torque to tackle gravel roads, dirt trails, and rough terrain. It’s this mix of capabilities that probably makes the GS so popular with riders.
This particular feature publication is an accompaniment to the full review of the 2026 BMW R 1300 GS. It consists of a series of photographs that we took when we rode and tested the bike. I hope that you will enjoy these as much as I do.
Thank you all for your continued support. Keep smiling and ride safe.
Best wishes
Mark
